Kishi Yamamoto was born in Japan and went to Waseda University in Tokyo majoring in politics and economics. In the winter of 1974 whilst still at the university she visited London and decided to stay in England as a student. During the next three years she travelled extensively in Europe and went on an overland journey from London to Kathmandu, visiting en route pre-revolution Iran and pre-Soviet invasion Afghanistan. In the 1980s she worked as a music photo-journalist reporting from London before she teamed up with the dub reggae producer Adrian Sherwood and ran the legendary On-U Sound record label and production company. In 1998 she started working in television with Peter Pagnamenta, former Editor of BBC’s Panorama and Executive Producer of the acclaimed and award-winning People’s Century and Nippon series. Since 2002, she has been involved in a wide range of filming assignments for NHK - Japan Broadcasting Corporation – coordinating and producing in the UK and Europe. She also worked in the NHK news bureau in Westminster in 2006. (For the full list of programmes, please see Productions.)
